I traveled to Dubrovnik, Croatia with two of my very best friends for a girl’s trip, and let me tell you- Dubrovnik is now one of our absolute favorite destinations. Our experience was once in a lifetime, and honestly, our accommodations had a lot to do with it.
From the fragrance as you walk in, to the superb views, to the warm and engaging staff, this 5-star hotel in Dubrovnik was worth every penny. Hotel Bellevue is part of the Adriatic Luxury Hotels collection, which has a variety of luxury hotels in Dubrovnik and the surrounding area, but after careful research, we landed on Hotel Bellevue as the winner, and thank goodness our choice served us well!
The hotel is a chic and modern, yet cozy building built into a seaside cliff with private beach access. The hotel went through a total refurbishment in 2019, and the sleek vibes are quite the juxtaposition compared to the ancient city.
Best place to stay in Dubrovnik: Hotel Bellevue
Many people visiting Dubrovnik opt to stay at smaller hotels in Old Town (most do not have beach access or pools) or larger resort-style hotels outside of the Old Town city walls.
A 10-15 minute walk from Old Town, and private beach access, Hotel Bellevue is truly the best of both worlds.
Rooms & Suites
The hotel is made up of 91 rooms, 14 of which are suites. My friends and I stayed in a junior suite with a full living room, bedroom, large balcony, and beautiful bathroom. The room was contemporary with earthy tones- very “Zen”.
We were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine and some sweets, and the hotel also brought chocolates to our room in the evening. The only downside was that the closet space was limited, but the rest of the stay more than made up for it.
The main Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik restaurant is Vapor which is Michelin-recommended. Full transparency, I did not have dinner at the Vapor because I was too busy frolicking around the city.
However, the hotel breakfast was served at Vapor and the buffet is included with your room. My goodness, this breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever seen, perhaps the king of all breakfast buffets. They had EVERYTHING you could imagine and then some! You could also order a la carte options in addition to the extensive buffet.
Other dining options (which I did enjoy) were the Wine Bar, Spice Lounge, and Nevera. We had a wine-tasting experience on the terrace overlooking the Adriatic Sea on our first night, and it set the tone for a luxe stay. Fun fact: Croatia produces a ton of amazing wine.
Spice Lounge is the bar at the hotel with bites and it was lovely as well. Nevera is a sit-down restaurant outside by the beach, and they also offer beachside dining directly to your sun loungers.
We absolutely loved the food, wine, and overall dining experiences….I’m still dreaming about the breakfast buffet.
Wellness & Amenities
Let’s talk about the beach. I did say there is private beach access, which is true, but Bellevue Beach itself is not private. The public has access to one side of the beach, while hotel guests have access to sunbeds on a cement platform above the water, or to the left of the concrete pier. However, if you are looking for the best hotel in Dubrovnik with a beach, this is a great option.
In general, having beach access in Dubrovnik is rare, so I was happy to share the love, but it was crowded. Another thing to be mindful of is that the beach was all pebble, no sand.
After a few days of walking and intense stair climbing (no one warned us that there are a zillion stairs in Dubrovnik), we were ready for massages! The spa was beautiful and had an indoor pool which was a fun little treat. We had lovely massages, but the only weird thing was it didn’t seem like there were formal locker rooms.
Overall Review: Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik
Our experience at Hotel Bellevue was 10/10. It served as our vacation from our vacation and the perfect ending to our full trip to Croatia. I highly recommend anyone stay there, whether on a romantic getaway, girls trip, or family trip- there is something for everyone, and you will feel like you living your best life being there!
