Haven’t heard of Forte dei Marmi? I’m not surprised… it hasn’t been discovered by many American tourists yet, but give it a little time, and the best-kept secret will be out!
Forte dei Marmi is described as a smaller Italian Saint-Tropez, located on the Tuscan coast between Pisa and Cinque Terre in the province of Lucca. It’s a high-end Italian vacation spot, with all the beach club vibes and vibrant nightlife. Additionally, the shopping is insanely good. I may or may not have made a designer purchase at 11 p.m. after my wine and truffle pasta. More importantly, the white sand beaches are super pretty with a billion beach clubs (bagnos) lining the coast.
I came here for the evening to visit some long-time Italian family friends who have a home here, and one of them shared the best restaurants in Forte dei Marmi with me (and therefore you)!
Best Restaurants in Forte dei Marmi Recommended by a Local:
- Maito – elegant and super cool
- Osteria del Mare – seafood
- Pesce Baracca – excellent fresh fish, easy, very casual
- Giardino di Villa Grey – elegant and hip with a Michelin star
- Pozzo di Bugia – steak trattoria
- Camilla – beach club restaurant
- Bagno Silvio – elegant on the beach with feet in the sand
I was sad to only have an evening here… there will definitely be a next time!
